The North American operation of KOCH Entertainment has become the dominant force in independent music and video distribution. "Toronto-based KOCH Entertainment has been the independent market leader in Canadian distribution since opening in 1995" (Billboard, 2002). Its music label roster includes: KOCH Records, Artemis Records, Hopeless Records, Shanachie, Putumayo World Music, Relapse Records, Bloodshot Records, Badman Records, System Recordings, OM Records, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, DRG, Go-Kart Records, Tzadik, Savoy Jazz, Kung Fu, Borealis, Maxamus, Sextant and Death Row among others.
KOCH Entertainment's Canadian sales, marketing and promotion staff is made up of forty industry professionals covering all markets and accounts: Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax. KOCH Entertainment handles marketing and promotion for its labels and studios through its 6 branches. Since 1997, KOCH Entertainment has garnered a number of CRIA certified Platinum and Gold awards including 3 Platinum and 2 Gold Albums for WWE entrance theme CDs, 1 Platinum Award for Pokemon - 2.B.A. Master, and 1 Gold Album for each of Hackers - Soundtrack and Holiday Heroes. In 1998, KOCH Entertainment achieved triple platinum sales with Prodigy's album The Fat Of The Land and entered the Canadian charts at #1, a first for an independent label and distributor in Canadian music industry history. In 2004, Ray Charles' Genius Loves Company achieved Platinum sales by the end of the year, the album was approaching Double Platinum status. The album reached #1 on the Top 200 Album, Independent and R&B charts.
KOCH Vision, the rental and sell thru video division at KOCH Entertainment,
began in 1998 with the successful launch of the World Wrestling Entertainment
(WWE) home video line. Since then KOCH Vision has become home to various
diverse video lines including: Gaiam, GoodTimes Entertainment,
KOCH Lorber Films, Passport International, AnimEigo Inc., Central Park Media,
Detroit Public Television, Capital Entertainment, The Disinformation Company, Elite
Entertainment, Entertainment Programs Inc., Focus Films Entertainment, Tango
Entertainment, Brainy Baby, CanWest Media, Starlight Home Entertainment, The Happiest
Baby on the Block, Lance Entertainment Inc., Kiddie Village, Go-Kart Films,
Dagored Films, Shadow Entertainment, Full Moon Releasing & Shanachie.
KOCH Vision has garnered a number of Video Awards with Diamond Sales on
the Pilates: Beginners Mat Workout video. KOCH has 75 videos with Platinum
Sales and 160 titles with Gold Sales.
KOCH Entertainment provides its labels & studios with a state-of-the-art
B2B site giving them immediate access to sales and marketing information
at the touch of a button. KOCH Entertainment was purchased by
Entertainment One (TSX: EOF.UN) in June, 2005. Entertainment One
Income Fund is Canada's largest wholesaler of DVDs and CDs.
