| Richard Lorber co-founded
Fox Lorber over 20 years ago, and moved the company into direct
video distribution in 1991. Fox Lorber became the leading
independent video distributor of foreign, art house and documentary
films with a stellar catalogue of over 500 world-class, critically-acclaimed
titles from such eminent directors such as Truffaut, Kurosawa,
Godard, Tarkowsky, Rohmer, Wertmüller, Antonioni, Fassbinder
and newer talents like John Woo, Steven Soderbergh and Francois
Ozon.
Earlier, Lorber co-founded the specialty marketer New Video
Group, which developed and currently distributes A&E Home
Video for the Arts & Entertainment Network. After spinning
off New Video, Fox Lorber secured an investment from telecommunications
company Winstar in 1996, which allowed Lorber to expand his
"world class cinema" library and move aggressively
into early
DVD distribution. By 1998 the company had achieved 4% market
share of all DVD titles in release
and approximately 20% market share of all foreign film titles
in all forms of video release.
Richard Lorber left Fox Lorber and Winstar in 2001 to form
Lorber Media where he would
focus on international programming investments and domestic
distribution financing.
Lorber regularly attends various international program markets
and film festivals
from year to year, including Sundance, NATPE, American Film
Market, MIP TV,
Cannes, VSDA, Montreal, Hamptons, Berlin and the L.A. Independent
Film
Festival. Lorber Media’s homepage address is: www.lorbermedia.com
